요약

모든 신생아의 2~4%는 어떠한 종류의 선천성 기형을 가지고 태어나며 이비인후과 분야의 선천성 기형 중 반 정 도는 귀와 관계되어서 나타난다. 약 180만명의 신생아를 대상으로 한 미국의 역학조사에서는 6,830명에 1명의 빈도 로 외이 기형이 나타나고 그 중 심한 외이의 기형은 17,500 명 중의 한 명의 빈도로 나타난다고 하였다.¹⁾ 본 원고에서 는 이비인후과 외래에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 경미한 외이기 형의 임상적 양상과 치료(교정 수술)에 대해 기술하고자 한다.
