요약

방사선 노출이 건강에 미치는 영향은 1945년 일본 히로시마 나가사키에 투하된 원자폭탄에 희생되거나 생존한 사람들에 대한 체계적인 역학연구를 통해 비로소 과학적으로 알게 되었다고 할 수 있다. 원폭생존자에 대한 장기적인 추적을 통한 역학연구는, 특히 방사선피폭과 암 발생과의 관련성에 대한 ‘황금기준(Gold standard)’으로 역할을 하고 있다.¹⁾
